HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR PARISH.

This link contains basic information on how to organize your parish to oppose its merger. These are suggested methods that have been proven effective in other parishes. Generally, we have found that most parishioners are opposed to the proposed mergers, but either believe (mistakenly) that nothing can be done to prevent them or are just not sure where to start. Usually, it takes only one or two people to lead the way and once the process is started, the rest falls into place.

Requests a meeting to discuss additional information, requests copies of all information used in making the decision to merge your parish, and gives notice of your intent to appeal.

Please note that I am not a canon lawyer - this is just my understanding of the process. Bishop Galante should provide more detailed and accurate information on the process when he informs you of your right to appeal following the issuance of a decree of suppression. The information in this section is provided solely to allow you to become familiar with the process in a broad sense and to allow you to begin preparing your appeals now.
