Byrnes Ireland

We just came back from Ireland. Sexual abuse by clergy is a hot topic. However, the bad clergy is going to jail while bishops and cardinals are voluntarily resigning. Also, they are NOT closing down parishes. Catholic education is tuition free. I think they said public school is free too and no property taxes. Correct me if i'm mistaken.

michael smith Need to show Rev. Galante to the door

Is it just me? This bishop owns the title of being the absolute worst bishop in the history of the Camden Diocese. What this priest has done to many priests; closing schools; merging parishes; and closing parishes is a total disgrace and slap in the face to every Catholic in the Camden Diocese!

Why, oh why, can't we all get together and get rid of this sitting bishop by just taking out a few minutes and sending his superior and the nuncia i

9-27-09 Dear People of the Camden Diocese, We are all aware of how Bishop Galante has ruined OUR Camden Diocese. We are all aware of the unnecessary closings of churches, etc. We are all aware of the priests that are his "pets" and those that are his "pests." We are all aware that the Camden Diocese is much worse now than it was under Bishop McHugh. But we can't just sit back and let Galante destory our diocese any longer! TARA MOORE I am a victim of sexual abuse by priest

the Camden Diocese and Bishop Galante and many of the priests don't care about victims of sexual abuse. All they care about is money and power which will lead them and their followers to HELL. Continue

TARA MOORE SEXUAL ABUSE BY CLERGY IN CAMDEN DIOCESE

The Camden Diocese has never acknowledged Sexual Abuse as a factor in deciding to close down Roman Catholic Churches in the Camden Diocese. In the Camden Diocese it is well known that victims of rape and molestation and sexual harassment by priests are often described as individuals who are only seeking money and the destruction of the Camden diocese. This is not true. There are many victims in the Camden diocese who are telling the truth. Many victims have remained silent because of fear , emba… Continue

Dan Cirucci Meat Cleaver Diet

I was hoping I wouldn't have to write about this subject. But sometimes events force my hand. For the past couple of months I've been attending Catholic mass at a s00n-to-be-terminated parish in the Diocese of Camden. This is one of those parishes that will effectively cease to exist under Camden Bishop Joseph ("Call me 'Joe'") Galante's sweeping directive that closes churches, schools and other facilities throughout the diocese. Bishop Galante has taken a meat cleaver to a job that may have ben… Continue

Kevin Kelton Warning about "Worship Sites"

Bishop Joseph Galante, and many of the conveners and pastors of the Diocese of Camden are making promises to unsuspecting parishioners about keeping their churches open after a merger takes place as a "worship site." This simply is unrealistic. It is a tool used by the diocese to disarm any parishioner resistance to a church merger. The day after the merger takes place, or any time thereafter, the new pastor, under a directive from the bishop has the authority to close and sell off any church or… Continue

Patrick W. Conahey, Sr. Mansion for the Nuns

Not a bad layout for five sisters. It is only four times the size of the house that I live in raising my three daughters on my own. That gives each nun almost as much space as I have total for the four of us! Just more of an example of a Bishop out of control. And he should not talk about Priests retiring without replacements. What about the Priests that he chases out because they "Do not fit in with the Priesthood of this diocese."??? Father Michael Spagnolo from St Teresa of Avila Church in Br… Continue

Martin Kelley Doublespeak South Jersey

St Nicholas in Egg Harbor City is the latest to say no to the bishop but the public relations double-speak continues on: "The feelings of loss when there is a change like this really are natural and are to be expected," [diocese spokesman Andrew] Walton said. "And yet, the bishop announced retentions for the reconfiguration because he felt it was necessary at this time, that it was necessary if the church is to experience gr… Continue

Leah Vassallo Updates to Website

Our website has recently been updated with two new features. First, information on how to oppose your parish merger, along with sample letters and appeals, are available under the Resources tab. You can consider it our little "Anti-Merger Manual." This section will be expanded as time permits. Second, there is a new tab for Videos, where you can see the latest videos related to church closings, including last night's ABC News coverage of the Boston vigils, now well into their fourth year.
