Council of Parishes of Southern New Jersey

I just left church. The Bishop and Father Terri were there to present their horse and pony explaination about the destruction of the Catholic family in the Greater Bridgeton Area; including Immaculate Conception and St Teresa in Bridgeton, St Mary's in Rosenhayne and St Michaels in Cedarville, as well as Port Norris. I could not last until the end. To sit in front of the people of faith and lie with a smirk on his face, while saying that he would "swear on the bible" (a term I never heard a Priest let alone a Bishop use!!); this Bishop should be the one taking a year leave of absence. I do not know Father Terri, nor do I really know the Bishop (this is not an area well visited by the dictatorship of Camden); however, I did know Father Jim Rush and Father Michael Spagnolo and neither of them are liars. So I take personal offense that the two of them would strongly suggest that these two well loved Priests would lie to their faithful parishioners. We all know the fate of this area's churches, they are destined to be closed and reorganized under the new name of "Our Lady of Guadaloupe" just like they did the school. They are basing the needs of the Catholics of this area on the temporary strong presence of an illegal alien population from Mexico, Central and South America. Our two strong Priests were shoved away because they would not have stood silently by and allowed the over-throw of our churches by a segment of the population that only uses the church for their needs. When will the hiarchy wake up and smell the roses? When the money stops flowing into their baskets.

Thank you for your comment, Patrick. I for one am so glad to see St. Teresa's get mobilized. It's a beautiful little church, and do not doubt that the bishop, if he had his way, would sell off all churches in your merger group. Why in the world would he keep all of them open if they are "merged?" We're so glad you guys are seeing through the lies. And as for that (the lies), this wouldn't be the first time. Isn't it sad when you can't believe a thing that comes out of the chancery office? Let's face it. When you're an honest person, there's really no need to insist you'd "swear on the Bible," is there? We must simultaneously dig in our heels at these outrages against Our Lord and pray for the bishop and those working with them. Not only are they putting their own souls in jeopardy, they will bring down hundreds and hundreds with them. Keep the True Faith!

The above information should be on front page of website. Per Canon Law info.....

The fact is that the Camden diocese uses the poor Mexican people as innocent pawns. The Mexican people (illegal included) are wonderful Catholics. It's not their fault. The Camden diocese doesn't care about the Mexican people or anyone or they would help them become legal.

The Camden Diocese only care about themselves. The Bishop is creating racial segregation.

By renaming the schools and churches to "Our Lady of Guadalupe" is just a way to appear that they care about these people when in reality they don't. For example, when I was on deanery I advised the group that Woodstown-Pilesgrove is a multi-eth nic community and that their facts were inaccurate. (We have many different people...Hipanics, African-Americans, Native American Catholics etc. ) yet the facts that they used to close down my parish are innaccurate and racist.

You must tell the people the truth.. That the Pastors and only the PASTORS under Canon law is responsible for closing down a Catholic Parish. Therefore, there is no issue of breaking the "obedience"vow. The Bishop makes the final decree. These PASTORS need to realize that the Bishop is going to put the blame on all of them!!! and he will be laughing. Bishop Galante has already blamed Pope Benedict and the Vatican for his evil dealing wiht Mr. Follieri who is in jail.

The Council of Parishes of Southern NJ formed in May 08 in opposition to the elimination of half the churches in the Diocese of Camden.
